The Times of Israel reports that Israel’s largest supermarket chain, Shufersal, has announced restrictions on the sale of basic products including water and eggs.

The publication cites the words of the head of the chain, Uri Waterman, who said that, given the responsibility to all customers and against the backdrop of high demand, supply problems and partial shortages of products in stores, Shufersal decided to introduce restrictions on the purchase of basic food products, namely water , eggs, bread and milk.

Customers will be able to buy up to two six-packs of 1.5-litre bottles of water, up to 30 eggs or two cartons of 12 eggs, as well as three cartons of milk and two loaves of bread at fixed prices, the newspaper said. Representatives of the supermarket chain reported that they are constantly working to supply additional volumes of products to stores.
