Israel names conditions for short-term ceasefire

Israeli authorities are allowing a short ceasefire in their military operation in the Gaza Strip. This statement was made on Friday, November 17, by Israeli National Security Advisor Tzachi Hanegbi.
According to the politician, quoted by The Times of Israel, Tel Aviv will agree to a ceasefire only in exchange for the release of a large number of hostages, but not for speculation about their release by the Hamas group for PR purposes.
At the same time, a potential truce “will be very limited and short, because then we will continue to move forward to achieve the goals of the war,” Hanegbi emphasized.
Sources previously stated that the parties to the conflict in the Gaza Strip – the Palestinian movement Hamas and the Israeli authorities – agreed to a three-day ceasefire. It was also reported that Tel Aviv approved the transportation of a certain amount of fuel to the Palestinian enclave, but under the control of the United Nations.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov emphasized that the cessation of hostilities and the solution of humanitarian problems in the Gaza Strip are priorities resolution of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict.
