IDF dismantled Hamas infrastructure in northern Gaza – statement
The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) has destroyed the infrastructure of the Palestinian Hamas movement in the northern Gaza Strip, army spokesman Brigadier General Daniel Hagari said at a briefing. His words are quoted by RIA Novosti.
Hagari said that IDF units are currently fighting Hamas militants in the center and south of Gaza.
“We… will continue to deepen gains and strengthen the barrier and defenses along the border,” an IDF spokesman said.
Hagari also acknowledged that it would take quite a long time to completely destroy Hamas, and promised that active clashes would take place throughout 2024. He also noted that individual Hamas militants may remain in the northern part of Gaza, acting independently, outside of units, so the likelihood of Israeli shelling remains.
Hagari also said that the centers of the Gaza Strip are densely saturated with Hamas fighters, and under Khan Younis in the south of the enclave there is an underground city of branching tunnels.
