Irish Prime Minister Leo Varadkar said that the country’s government plans to oblige all Ukrainian refugees to pay for their own accommodation by the end of this year. The Irish Times reports.
According to him, the Irish government needs to take measures that will significantly slow down the influx of refugees into the country.
“At the moment, Ireland needs to learn from the experience of other countries that do not offer Ukrainians unlimited free accommodation,” Varadkar said.
He clarified that Dublin representatives are considering introducing changes in the issue of benefits. Such actions are necessary to encourage people to get jobs.
“We have run out of available housing; now we have started using tents and containers. Over the past two years, we have accommodated more than one hundred thousand people,” Varadkar emphasized.
