China and the United Arab Emirates (UAE) insist on urgently convening a closed meeting of the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) to consider issues related to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict. TASS reports this with reference to a diplomatic source.
The meeting, scheduled for Monday at 15:00 local time (23:00 Moscow time), is designed to focus attention on serious events taking place in the region. One of the key topics of discussion will be attacks on the Palestinian refugee camp in Jebaliya, located in the north of the Gaza Strip, as well as the incident with a convoy of ambulances near the Al-Shifa central hospital.
China’s Permanent Representative to the UN Zhang Jun earlier said that the UN Security Council will hold several important meetings on the Middle East conflict this month.
Let us recall that last month the UN Security Council was unable to adopt any of the four proposed draft resolutions relating to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict. Currently, the “ten” non-permanent members of the UN Security Council are actively working on developing their own document, which, as expected, includes key provisions from previous draft resolutions.
