The Iraqi authorities decided to remove the blocking from Telegram. This is reported by the Ministry of Communications of the country. It is noted that the messenger will be unlocked from August 13.
The department noted that the company that owns the platform agreed to cooperate with the authorities in preventing a massive leak of citizens’ data. Blocking Telegram was introduced last week. The Iraqi authorities have stated that they are afraid of transferring the data of their citizens to third parties.
Telegram said that the company’s policy prohibits the publication of personal data without the consent of the person. Therefore, several channels that provided such data had to be blocked. At the same time, the company emphasized that the Iraqi authorities did not request the personal data of users and did not receive them.
