Iraq plans to launch Russian social network Tenchat

The Russian business social network Tenchat may start operating in Iraq in the fall of 2023, negotiations on the placement and mutual integration of the company’s servers have already begun. About it informed TASS is the founder of Tenchat and the head of the VBC group of companies that owns the social network, Semyon Tenyaev.
Tenyaev added that he had met with Iraqi Ambassador Qahtan Taha Khalaf al-Janabi in Russia. The parties outlined a negotiation roadmap
Tenchat is available in 12 countries: Russia, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Uzbekistan, Azerbaijan, Armenia, Georgia, Tajikistan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkey, UAE and Iran. The audience of the social network is more than 2.5 million users.
In April, the Ministry of Digital Development compiled a list of Russian social networks and programs that could replace foreign ones after companies leave Russia. TenChat was among the applications that were to replace Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, Facebook Messenger (owned by Meta, whose activities are recognized as extremist in the Russian Federation; Facebook, Messenger and Instagram are blocked in Russia), as well as Twitter, TikTok, Snapchat and Slack. In January 2023, Tenchat disappeared from the App Store.
