Iraq extradites ISIS suspect to Russia

Iraq extradited Leyla Gatagazheva, accused of assisting the Islamic State organization (IS; recognized as terrorist and banned on the territory of the Russian Federation), to Russia; transmits TASS with reference to the official representative of the Russian Ministry of Internal Affairs Irina Volk.
Gatagazheva, as specified in the ministry, is accused of participating in the activities of an organization recognized as terrorist in the Russian Federation. Earlier, on the basis of a request from the Ministry of Internal Affairs for Ingushetia, she was put on the international wanted list.
According to Volk, the woman arrived in Syria in October 2016, where she volunteered to join IS and helped wounded militants, she “was engaged in washing and repairing their uniforms, cooking, and also provided them with weapons with her own money.” At the airport in Baghdad on June 17, Gatagazheva was handed over to representatives of Russian law enforcement agencies for delivery to Moscow.
In April, one of the leaders of the IS, who created a terrorist cell to plan attacks in Moscow and Novosibirsk, sentenced to life imprisonment. The 2nd Western District Military Court found the man guilty of committing 21 crimes under the articles of the Criminal Code on organizing and participating in terrorist activities, illegal acquisition and storage of weapons, ammunition and explosives, as well as illegal manufacture of explosives.
