African leaders arrived at the Konstantinovsky Palace for talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin on a peaceful settlement of the Ukrainian crisis.
The day before, a delegation of African countries visited Kyiv and held talks with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, offering him their peace initiative.
Among the African leaders who arrived in St. Petersburg are President of South Africa Cyril Ramaphosa, President of Senegal Maki Sall, President of the Comoros Otman Ghazali and President of Zambia Hakainde Hichilema. In addition, the delegation includes Egyptian Prime Minister Mustafa Madbouli and representatives of Uganda and Congo.
Earlier, Cyril Ramaphosa reported that the African proposal implies de-escalation from both sides of the conflict and the start of negotiations as soon as possible.
