Iran responded to Kuleba’s claims about the supply of weapons to Russia

Iran’s position on the events in Ukraine is based on the principle of refusing to send weapons to the conflicting parties, Foreign Minister Hossein Amir Abdollahian said in a conversation with his Ukrainian counterpart Dmitry Kuleba. This was reported by the IRNA agency.

Earlier, Kuleba wrote on social networks that during a telephone conversation he demanded that the Iranian side stop supplying weapons to Russia.

In September, information appeared in the Ukrainian media and social networks that Iranian drones and loitering ammunition began to meet in the zone of a special military operation in Ukraine. The American publication Politico called Iranian drones a “huge problem” for the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Ukraine has revoked the accreditation of the Iranian ambassador under this pretext. Iran said it regrets Ukraine’s tightening of diplomatic cooperation, but considers this measure “based on unconfirmed reports and caused by the creation of a media space by a foreign side.”

Earlier, French, British and German diplomats called on the UN Secretariat to send experts to Ukraine to find out on the spot whether the resolution banning Iran from selling drones without prior approval from the UN Security Council is being violated. Israeli representative to the UN Gilad Erdana said that Russia allegedly uses Iranian-made unmanned aerial vehicles in Ukraine. Russia’s Permanent Representative to the UN and the UN Security Council, Vasily Nebenzya, denied this statement, and said that they represent an attempt to put pressure on the UN Security Council. He also noted that Moscow would reconsider diplomatic relations with the UN Secretariat if an international organization conducts an investigation into the use of alleged Iranian drones by the Russian military in Ukraine.
