Some users are disappointed in the new iPhones. The version 15 Pro with a titanium case overheats even when performing basic tasks, and the characteristics of simple versions of the model cannot always compete with cheaper Android smartphones. What exactly didn’t suit the owners of the new Apple device? Grigory Kolganov will tell you.
“iPhone 15 is simply incredible, the new product has a completely new design that is simply magnificent, this is the highest quality material we have ever used in an iPhone case,” Apple management did not skimp on praise at the presentation on September 12.
Among the delights of the grateful audience, the crunch of that very high-quality titanium case breaking in the hands of the famous tech blogger under the nickname Jerry Rig Everything suddenly sounded loudly:
“It’s time to see how durable the aluminum and titanium construction of the iPhone 15 Pro Max is. Yes, I’ll be honest, I didn’t expect this. You’ve been watching me test smartphones for about 11 years now. And most of them don’t break. iPhone especially. And that click was too fast. I’m stunned.”
Ordinary users also discovered more critical shortcomings. “Hot as an iron,” they describe on social networks the ability of the new model to overheat even when performing simple tasks, for example, viewing the same social networks. Because of this, the iPhone is comfortable to use only in a case. Experts explain the problem with the same innovative titanium case, which does not dissipate heat well.
But Russians are unlikely to discover this flaw, says IT expert Valentin Petukhov, known as the blogger Wylsacom:
“The overheating story is not entirely relevant because these reports mainly come from America. For example, from California, where the sun shines brightly and it is quite hot. Overheating problems are possible due to the use of titanium in the case, which dissipates heat slightly worse than the steel in previous Pro models. But at the same time, the A17 Pro processor itself is also quite “hot.”
Other shortcomings include a new connector. Lightning has been replaced by modern USB-C, but with the same data transfer speed of only 480 megabits per second. And the screen frequency of the base model is 60 hertz, just like the 13th version.
In Russia, they ask for at least 130 thousand rubles for a new iPhone. For Pro Max you will have to pay one and a half times more – 195 thousand rubles. But due to the identified shortcomings and the high cost in our country, demand may shift towards earlier models, believes Anton Gusev, product manager for Apple at the X-com group of companies:
“People who have money and who upgrade their smartphone every year will continue to buy an iPhone even automatically. Those who have less money will wonder if this makes sense. With the release of new models, older ones become cheaper. That is, if a person has long wanted to buy an iPhone, for example, for a child, this is a chance to purchase a smartphone of the previous generation. Accordingly, most likely, demand will grow more for older models.”
But a mass exodus of Russian fans of Apple technology to other brands is unlikely to happen. As Kommersant writes, citing an MTS study, two-thirds of Apple users remain loyal to the company from Cupertino from year to year.
Neither Samsung nor Xiaomi can boast of such customer loyalty. Perhaps Asian vendors have not yet managed to find the password to the mysterious Russian soul.
