Investigators began suddenly revoking permission to visit prisoners

One of the victims was the wife of ex-senator Maslovsky

Russian investigators began to use the practice of revoking previously granted permission to visit a prisoner without giving reasons. The prisoners are asking the Supreme Court to express its position on this matter.

As MK learned, one of the victims is the wife of ex-senator Pavel Maslovsky. The former member of the Federation Council from the Amur region was the founder of the gold mining company Petropavlovsk and was sentenced by the Basmanny Court to 5.5 years in prison for fraud. The entrepreneur ended up in a colony, from where he was recently returned to pre-trial detention center No. 1 “Kremlin Central”. Initially, the female investigator gave Maslovsky’s wife permission to make calls and visits, but then revoked this permission. The wife of the convict found out about this at the checkpoint of the detention center – she was informed that permission to visit had been revoked without explanation. The investigator did not try to contact either the wife or the lawyer. Maslovsky’s wife, who turned to human rights activists, explained that she had been married to her husband for more than 40 years and had practically not seen him during the investigation and trial. She was really looking forward to a date.

Other investigators use similar practices. At the same time, relatives of the prisoners consider it a mockery, because a person sometimes comes for a date from afar. Such a sudden ban violates both the rights of the prisoner and the rights of his loved ones, and violates human dignity.
