Inventors have patented a “smart” device for counting the number of push-ups

The design is also useful for the rehabilitation of people with disabilities

An invention recently protected by a patent of the Russian Federation will make it more objective to control the delivery of the TRP standard for push-ups. The device can also be used in rehabilitation medicine.

As it became known to “MK”, ​​the invention will allow avoiding errors of judges when fixing the results of the exercise and will eliminate the possibility of disputes and disagreements between the judge and the subject. The official name is the control device during the exercise of the GTO complex “flexion-extension of the arms in the lying position”. It is a platform with a non-slip coating in places of emphasis with hands, above its central part there is a pressing key made of flexible plastic, in front of it there is a panel with displays for displaying the number of push-ups, exercise time and rest time. The control panel is located under the key, on its side there are buttons for power on / off, reset indicators and switching exercise modes, on the top there is a button for fixing the number of push-ups. The panel is wired to the referee button.

When the power is turned on, the displays light up and the unit enters standby mode. The subject takes the initial position of the emphasis lying. When bending the arms, the body of the athlete presses the key, and, accordingly, the lock button located under it. When the arms are extended, the key takes its original position. As soon as the subject does the first push-ups, the displays begin to work. If he violates the technique of the exercise, the judge may press his button, and the push-up will not be counted. As soon as the time allotted for flexion-extension of the arms expires, the count of push-ups stops.

The inventors claim that the use of such a design is convenient, reliable and safe. Also, the device enables people with hearing and vision disabilities to undergo rehabilitation.
