“Instead of joy – a package of new bans” – Kommersant FM

Russian President Vladimir Putin declared 2024 the Year of the Family. The government must prepare a plan of measures aimed at protecting traditional values ​​and relationships between men and women. Previously, the Russian Federation officially recognized that the demographic situation was seriously deteriorating. Lately there have been many proposals on how to correct this state of affairs. Kommersant FM political commentator Dmitry Drize hopes that the declared Year of the Family will help avoid excesses in matters of fertility.

According to the presidential decree, the decision to declare 2024 the Year of the Family was made “to popularize state policy in the field of family protection and the preservation of traditional family values.” The government, in turn, must create an appropriate organizing committee and approve an action plan by December 27 of this year.

Yes, the topic is more than relevant. The current year 2023, in addition to everything else that is happening around, ends with an intensification of the struggle for demography. Families are being created, but citizens are in no hurry to take care of the main thing, that is, the continuation of the human race. As a result, indicators are falling right before our eyes, and something needs to be done about it.

It is logical to assume that the relevant departments will present to the public some measures so that Russian families are strengthened and do not need anything, so that there is confidence in the future and, accordingly, an incentive to have children.

We will not speculate on what these measures might be, but it is timely to recall the proposals to improve demographics that have been heard in the Russian information space lately. For example, releasing women prisoners in exchange for having children.

In addition, voices are becoming louder and louder that for Russian women and girls, family and children should come first, and then education and career. In principle, you can do without them altogether and focus exclusively on marriage. Sit at home and raise your offspring.

Or an all-out fight against some terrible and threatening international LGBT movement, which, of course, does not at all contribute to the strengthening of traditional values. Everyone strives to build intrigues. We won’t remind you about the fight against abortion – it’s already taken for granted.

Be that as it may, bad feelings arise. It seems like the Year of the Family is a time to rejoice. But there is a certain fear that the opposite will happen. Instead of joy – a package of further prohibitions. However, let’s help the organizing committee and come up with a promising proposal.

Let’s go back to the beginning and make sure that our families have clear and unconditional confidence in the future.

As long as there is no such confidence, they will not give birth, no matter how you force them to do so. We don’t want to follow the example of brotherly Afghanistan. Or how? In the end, if the wife does not work but takes care of the children, she needs to have something to live on. Then her husband’s salary should be increased significantly.

But at the same time, as is known, there is a shortage of specialists in the Russian Federation. And women have to lend a shoulder for the sake of economic growth. And you say, stay at home. With joy, but it doesn’t work out. So it will not be easy for the organizing committee to prepare an event plan. But let’s hope that in the future the Russian family will become the strongest and most exemplary.
