The information that a naval mine was found in the area of the Lyubimovka beach in Sevastopol was not confirmed, the alarm was false, informed Governor of the city Mikhail Razvozhaev.
“Special services of the fleet checked an object found in the sea near the Lyubimovka beach. It turned out that the alarm was false and it was not a mine,” he wrote on his Telegram channel, thanking the security services for their vigilance.
On August 6, Razvozhaev reported that a sea mine had been found at a distance of less than 100 meters from the coast; it was allegedly drifting towards the Northern Bay. The mine was planned to be destroyed in the water area.
At the end of June, on Soldatsky Beach, operational services pulled a Soviet mortar mine out of the water, they planned to destroy it at the training ground. Razvozhaev then saidthat such finds are not uncommon for Sevastopol, since from the open sea shells from the times of the Second World War can wash ashore after storms, tides and currents.
