Indonesian state-owned companies must switch to full electric transport by 2025. This is reported Bloomberg with reference to the statement of the Minister of State Enterprises of the country, Eric Tohir.
Indonesia has set a goal of achieving zero CO2 emissions by 2060. At the same time, transport accounts for a quarter of all emissions in the country – more only from energy enterprises.
There are 41 state-owned companies in the country, among which there are transport companies. Thus, according to the minister, the state-owned bus carriers Perum and DAMRI, whose fleet has about 3.5 thousand buses, should also switch to electric transport. At the same time, Mr. Tohir did not specify when exactly the public transport of the country would have to become completely electric. He also noted that companies do not have to buy buses, they can be leased.
