India fines Google $113 million for imposing its own payment system

The Competition Commission of India (CCI) fined Google $113 million for imposing its own payment system on users and Android app developers, reports Reuters.
The CCI has ruled that Google has no right to restrict app developers from using third-party billing or payment processing services in India. The commission ordered the company to adjust its work, taking eight corrective measures proposed by the regulator within three months.
This is the second fine imposed by the CCI on Google in recent times. Last week the regulator fined a US company for $162 million because Google used its dominant position in the Android smartphone market to promote its own applications such as the Internet search engine, the Chrome web browser and the YouTube video hosting service. Google expressed disagreement with both CCI decisions. A spokesman for the company said that management will study the decision of the regulator to determine the next steps. Google has the right to challenge both decisions in court.
