In Zaporozhye called the conditions for the referendum

A referendum on joining Russia will be held in the Zaporozhye region after achieving complete security for the inhabitants of the region, wrote head of the military-civilian administration of the region Yevgeny Balitsky in his Telegram channel.

“Recently, I have been increasingly asked a question about the date of the referendum. I will answer this way: the referendum will take place as soon as we are finally ready in terms of security for the inhabitants of the Zaporozhye region. We are finally confident that anyone can comfortably and safely take part in the voting,” he wrote.

According to Balitsky, all the technical issues have already been resolved: the polling stations have been equipped, commissions have been formed. He noted that the referendum has important symbolic and legal significance.

“However, I can say that for the residents of the Zaporozhye region, this is rather a necessary technical formality that you just need to go through. Russia is already here and we already feel like a part of it,” he concluded.

On September 7, the sociological center INSOMAR published the results of a survey in two regions of Ukraine: Zaporozhye and Kherson (1,000 people participated). Sociologists asked the respondents a question: “Personally, would you like the territory of your region to remain part of Ukraine, become part of Russia, or become an independent state after the completion of the military operation?”

In the Zaporozhye region, according to these sociologists, 71% of the respondents expressed their desire to become part of Russia, 6% – to remain part of Ukraine, the same number – to become an independent state, 17% found it difficult to answer. In the Kherson region, respectively, 63% want to go to Russia, 11% would prefer to remain part of Ukraine, 7% would like to exist independently, 19% find it difficult to answer.

Russia’s special operation in Ukraine began on February 24. In May, the Kherson region completely came under the control of the Russian military. Now most of the Zaporozhye region is also under the control of the Russian military. New pro-Russian administrations were formed in both regions.

Earlier, the regions announced plans to become part of Russia. In early August, Evgeny Balitsky signed an order to hold a referendum on the region’s accession to the Russian Federation. The authorities of the Kherson region have not yet issued official documents on the preparation of the referendum.
