Austrian President Alexander van der Bellen said his country needs to get rid of dependence on Russian gas. He believes that Russian President Vladimir Putin uses “every cubic meter to split Europe.”
“Europe has united in imposing tough sanctions against Russia. And they work. But Putin uses every cubic meter of gas to split Europe,” he wrote on Twitter.
The politician also urged fellow citizens to save energy and invest in its renewable sources. He acknowledged that this is difficult and requires hard work, but it is possible if people “according to good Austrian traditions help and take care of each other.”
Earlier, Russian Foreign Minister Alexander Shallenberg said he believes in the effectiveness of sanctions against the Russian Federation.
