Police officers, with the participation of riot police, conducted a “preventive raid” at the Yekaterinburg gay club Fame, reports Ura.ru with reference to the correspondent. According to the agency, the visitors’ passports were checked and the data from the documents was copied. The Yekaterinburg Ministry of Internal Affairs stated that the club sold alcohol without labeling.
A member of the city Public Chamber, Dmitry Chukreev, who took part in the raid, said that the check was carried out “based on reports from concerned citizens” and was “in no way connected with the decision of the Supreme Court of Russia.” November 30 court admitted “international social movement LGBT” extremist and banned its activities in the country.
During the raid, police checked the documents of more than 100 club visitors, the Yekaterinburg Ministry of Internal Affairs reported. Nine liters of unlabeled alcoholic beverages were also found and seized. “Entrepreneurs who carried out their activities without the appropriate permits were asked to stop violating trade rules and close their outlets. The sellers chose to comply with the police order and hastened to stop the unauthorized trade,” the police added.
