In western Ukraine, the police detained a man who desecrated the national flag.
A 34-year-old resident of Rivne, according to the police telegram channel, right in the center of the city on Knyaz Romana Street, tore off a blue-and-yellow banner from a pole, which was fixed on one of the walls.
“In the presence of passers-by, he defiantly threw it to the ground and began to stomp and wipe his feet on it,” the report says.
After a public manifestation of “a disdainful attitude towards the state symbol of Ukraine,” the man tried to hide in the crowd, but was detained by law enforcement officers.
He never explained what he did. Under Ukrainian law, he faces up to 3 years in prison.
