Due to strong winds that damaged the roofs and facades of buildings, the Vladivostok mayor’s office declared a state of high alert. A storm warning is in effect in Primorye due to the cyclone on January 22-23. Forecasters warn of possible dangerous phenomena such as waves of up to six meters and icing of ships in the Sea of Japan. On Monday, hurricane-force wind gusts were recorded in Vladivostok, reaching 40.2 meters per second at Cape Nazimov. In addition, Emergency Situations Ministry employees reported a possible disruption of life support in Chechnya and Ingushetia. The high alert mode will last until 09:00 on January 24, during this period all utilities and duty dispatch services are operating. Authorities warn that strong winds and frost will continue on Tuesday.
