In the Austrian capital, the Leopold Museum, two environmental activists from the organization “The Last Generation” (Letzte Generation) doused Gustav Klimt’s painting “Death and Life” with black liquid. Some sources report that oil was poured over the painting.
The activists posted a report on the next episode of their struggle on social networks, also indicating that oil was used to damage the painting.
One of the activists, according to the tradition that has developed in this subculture, tried to glue himself to the frame of the picture. It is reported that the police are already in place, managed to spoil, according to preliminary data, not only the picture, but also the wall, as well as the floor of the gallery.
Earlier last week, members of the same group at another museum in Vienna glued themselves to a plinth of a dinosaur skeleton model. But it didn’t turn out very conceptually – the police quickly unstuck everyone, according to the information received, only museum visitors were injured, who were not allowed to calmly view the exposition.
