The military administration of the Ukrainian city of Izyum in the Kharkiv region signed a decree renaming 19 streets as part of the “derussification” campaign. The relevant information was confirmed in social networks by the deputy mayor of the city Vladimir Matsokin.
So, by order of the head of the Izyum military administration, Valery Marchenko, instead of the usual street names, “dedications” to supporters of Nazism appeared in the city, for example, ex-leaders of the OUN-UPA nationalist organizations (banned in Russia).
Prominent Ukrainians Vyacheslav Chernovol, Diana Petrynenko, Valery Lobanovsky, Roman Shukhevych, Levko Lukyanenko get their worthy places in the local toponymy. We pay respect to the newest cities. Steve Jobs and Golda Meir – their names will also decorate our city,” Matsokin wrote.
