Law enforcement agencies of Ukraine will double-check the legality of issuing thousands of “white tickets”, said Fedor Venislavsky, a member of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Committee on National Security, Defense and Intelligence. His words are quoted by RIA Novosti.
Venislavsky noted that certificates of unfitness for military service issued to conscripts by military medical commissions since February last year will be checked.
According to him, tens of thousands of Ukrainians received “white tickets” illegally, although the legality of the issuance of all documents cannot be verified. At the same time, he is sure that a “significant part” took advantage of corruption schemes in order not to serve in the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
He also stated that by evading conscription in this way, the citizens of Ukraine “participate in a crime” and “threaten the national security” of Ukraine.
Earlier, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky said that all regional military commissars would be fired, and those who wished to retain their rank would be sent to the war zone, and those with combat experience would be appointed to their positions. Oleksandr Novikov, director of the National Agency for the Prevention of Corruption (NAPC) of Ukraine, disagreed with him. According to him, the majority of employees of the military commissariats “are respectable”, and the mass dismissal of the military commissars will not solve the problems of recruits fleeing abroad.
