Ukraine will be able to repay the public debt at the expense of the arrested Russian assets, as well as what Kyiv will be able to “take away from Russia”. Oleg Ustenko, adviser to President Volodymyr Zelensky on economic issues, announced this.
“Do not forget that [у России – прим.]… 350 billion dollars of their gold and foreign exchange reserves and 150 billion dollars of their money from the nomenklatura were arrested, and our debts are several times, if not ten times less, ”Ustenko said.
He also noted that after the end of hostilities on the territory of Ukraine, a “so-called creditor conference” will be created, in which it will be decided what to do with the state debt in the future.
Earlier, the head of the committee on finance, tax and customs policy of the Verkhovna Rada, Daniil Getmantsev, stated that the country’s public debt exceeded $124 billion.
