Two national parks in Ukraine began to turn into a desert after the Kakhovka hydroelectric power station collapsed. This was announced by the Minister of Environmental Protection and Natural Resources of Ukraine Ruslan Strilets on his page on the social network.
“Because of the terrorist act… at the Kakhovskaya HPP, such national parks as Veliky Lug and Kamenskaya Sich are gradually turning into a desert,” Strilets wrote.
He noted that, according to the estimates of the State Environmental Inspectorate (SEI), the estimated losses for these territories: Veliky Lug – more than 15 billion hryvnia, Kamenskaya Sich – more than 73 billion hryvnia.
He also noted that as a result of the incident, the land area in these parks could almost double.
