The Ukrainian Rada has a draft appeal to the International Olympic Committee, as well as to sports federations and parliaments of democratic countries, with a call to condemn the disqualification of Ukrainian saber fencer Olga Kharlan. It also proposes to disqualify the Russian saber fencer Anna Smirnova for life.
The authors of the appeal believe that Smirnova deliberately provoked Harlan by waiting for a handshake from her for almost an hour.
It is also proposed to punish everyone who participated in the disqualification of Harlan from the tournament in Italy.
The project was signed by seven people’s deputies, including Hryhoriy Surkis, Zhan Beleniuk, Georgiy Mazurashu and Andriy Kozhemyakin.
