In Ukraine, over the past year, the procedure for the alienation of property “for the needs of the army” has been widely used – both companies and ordinary citizens, according to the telegram channel “Country Politics.

It is reported that mostly cars are taken away, but there is already a precedent when dozens of apartments in a new residential area went under alienation.

According to the legislation of Ukraine in wartime, the state has the right to alienate the property of legal entities and individuals, but must pay the owners for this. “Politics of the Country” writes that lawyers note that the law is written in such a way that it allows for very broad interpretations – specific requirements for the conditions under which property is confiscated are not spelled out, it is not indicated that this is allowed only in the war zone, that justification is needed.

It is also indicated that compensation for seized property can be both preliminary and deferred. But the deadlines are within five budgetary periods after the end of martial law. This allows you to put people in a long line, and guess who will be paid now, and who will be paid later.

In addition, the alienation of property “in favor of the army” often occurs with numerous violations – without assessing property, drawing up acts, etc., the report says.
