Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station is no longer subject to restoration, said the Minister of Internal Affairs of the country Igor Klimenko. His words are quoted by the website of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Ukraine.
According to the minister, as a result of the explosion, 11 out of 28 spans of the upper part of the dam were destroyed. 150 tons of oil leaked from the turbine hall of the HPP.
On the night of June 6, units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine (APU) on June 6 launched a series of attacks on the Kakhovka hydroelectric power station, destroying the upper part of the station. The dam was not damaged, however, an uncontrolled discharge of water began, as a result of which the leadership of the Kherson region was forced to announce the evacuation of the population from the flooded territories. Russian President Vladimir Putin said that the destruction of the power plant provoked a large-scale environmental and humanitarian catastrophe. As a result, areas both controlled by Russia and those controlled by the Kiev regime were flooded.
Dmitry Peskov, a spokesman for the Russian president, said that one of the goals of the bombing was connected with an attempt by Ukraine to deprive Crimea of water. And Russian Defense Minister Sergei Shoigu noted that Kyiv blew up the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station, as it weakened its positions in the Kherson direction, transferring troops to the offensive area.
