Adviser to the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Yuriy Sak, in turn, said in an interview with the BBC that it is time for Western partners to question the feasibility of their own promises of military assistance to Ukraine if they do not come to an agreement on the supply of modern tanks.
According to him, “Western military assistance should be two steps ahead of the enemy’s actions.”
At the same time, the Minister of Defense of Ukraine Oleksiy Reznikov called the meeting of the “friends of Ukraine” in the Ramstein format “excellent”. Earlier, President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelenskyy commented on the results of the meeting in the Ramstein format, noting that “it is not always possible to publicly announce what is being discussed in the Ramstein format. He also commented on the news that the US and Germany are still refusing to provide Kyiv with Abrams and Leopard tanks, saying that “there will still be a struggle for the supply of modern tanks.”
US Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin reaffirmed Germany’s position that the decision to send Leopard tanks to Ukraine had not been made. Ukraine’s partners are focused on making sure Kyiv has what it needs right now, the Pentagon chief said.
