British journalist: “Supplies of tanks to Ukraine can turn Europe into a radioactive graveyard”

Deliveries of tanks to Ukraine could provoke an escalation of the conflict and “turn Europe into a radioactive graveyard,” writes British journalist Peter Hitchens in an article for the Daily Mail.
The journalist believes that there is no point in discussing the causes of the conflict in Ukraine, since “most people do not want to know and refuse to think about it or look for facts,” and those who try to talk about the conflict begin to be insulted.
But he accused the British government of not allowing free discussion of critical issues of national policy.
“So it remains for me to tell you that from the West to supply Ukraine with modern tanks is an act of the greatest stupidity,” he said.
Hitchins admits that he is not a military expert, but he knows that tanks are not meant for defense. According to him, the decision of the British authorities only “prolongs and deepens the conflict.”
According to him, the results of Ukraine’s use of tanks are unknown, but “there is a real possibility that a large piece of Europe can be turned into a radioactive cemetery”, and “American retribution” will lead Europe “into a world of horrors, losses and poverty.”
According to him, world powers should promote a lasting compromise, as they did after 1945.
“Instead, we are sending tanks. It’s like a fire brigade starting a fire,” he writes.
