In Ukraine, they are dissatisfied with the information about their country in Hungarian textbooks on geography, as well as about the status of Crimea. As Ukrainian journalist Bogdan-Oleg Gorobchuk wrote in an article for Espresso, judging by them, Budapest does not agree with the position on Kyiv’s sovereignty over Crimea.
Earlier, the Ukrainian media spread information about the release of a textbook in Hungary, in which the Carpathians are called the only high ones in Ukraine, at the foot of which there are historical Hungarian cities. In Kyiv, this was called an attempt to “deprive Ukraine of sovereignty over the Crimean mountains.” In addition, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine demanded that changes be made to the textbook on geography.
The Kyiv journalist was outraged by the fact that, judging by the Hungarian manual, the ethnic conflict on the territory of the former Soviet republic, as well as the statistics cited by the authors of the textbook, that the majority of the population of the peninsula are Russians, became the cause of the events in Crimea.
The publicist is not happy with the enumeration of the features of Russia, including the size of its territory. According to Gorobchuk, Hungarian schoolchildren had to be presented with negative facts about our country.
