In Ukraine, a criminal case was opened against the acting governor of the LPR, Leonid Pasechnik, for organizing a referendum on joining the region to Russia. This was reported in the press service of the Office of the Prosecutor General of Ukraine.
“The head of the LPR will be tried for a number of crimes against the foundations of the national security of Ukraine,” the message says.
Pasechnik is charged with “deliberate actions to change the borders of the territory and state border of Ukraine, as well as public calls for their accomplishment by prior agreement by a group of people.”
The department noted that on September 20 last year, the acting head of the LPR signed a law on holding a referendum on joining the Russian Federation as a Russian subject, and then he himself participated in organizing the vote.
