The Central District Court of Tyumen declared marriage illegal, which, after the change of sex, the spouse began to be considered same-sex. About it reported in the United press service of the judicial system of the Tyumen region. The case was considered at a closed court session.
A civil lawsuit was filed by the Tyumen prosecutor, who noted that, according to the Family Code of the Russian Federation, marriage is “a voluntary union of a man and a woman.” The fact that a 33-year-old married man changed his gender and name, department learned about from the registry office.
By a court decision, the marriage concluded between A. and Ts. was declared invalid from September 29, 2022.
Recall, the concept of “marriage as a union between a man and a woman” was enshrined in the new version of the Constitution of the Russian Federation, adopted in 2020. In December 2022, President Vladimir Putin signed into law a complete ban on LGBT propaganda in Russia.
