According to the agency, a convoy of protesters’ cars set out from Istanbul on November 3, and on the morning of Sunday, November 5, the cars drove into Adana, where the air base is located. The IHH Humanitarian Aid Foundation called on people “from all over Turkey” to join the convoy. The group was allowed to hold a rally in a specially designated place; the streets around the air base were blocked, but some protesters managed to get close to it, the agency writes.
“When the convoy approached the base around 14:00, part of the group tried to enter the base through the fields. Mounted police and riot police used pepper spray and TOMA [водометные машины для борьбы с беспорядками]to disperse the group,” the material says.
On October 28, Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan convened a large rally in support of Palestine in Istanbul. He collapsed with sharp criticism of Israel’s policies in the Gaza Strip, accused Tel Aviv of war crimes, and called the state of Israel an occupier. According to various estimates, up to 2 million people took part in the “great Palestinian rally,” as the event was called.
