Deputy Minister of Natural Resources of Tula Grishina was given 8.5 years in prison for corruption
The Tula Regional Court convicted Deputy Minister of Natural Resources Diana Grishina and her husband Roman Grishin, who turned out to be an intermediary, for corruption crimes.
Following the court hearing, Diana was accused of committing a crime under paragraphs. “a”, “c” part 5 art. 290 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (Receiving a bribe on a large scale), Roman was accused of violating Part 4 of Art. 291.1 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (mediation in bribery). As a result, both received 8.5 years and 7.5 years, respectively, of serving their sentences in a general regime colony.
Charges were also brought against ex-employee of the ministry Elena Polovinkina, who was accused of violating Part 6 of Art. 290 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (receiving a bribe on an especially large scale). She was given a fine of 2.1 million rubles.
Employees of the Investigative Committee of the Russian Federation found that in the period from 2014 to 2016, the ex-Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Ecology of the Tula Region Diana Grishina and the ex-head of the department’s subsoil use department identified violations during an inspection of one of the local organizations that was engaged in the extraction of unhealthy minerals. In order to avoid liability, the head of the company offered the officials money as a bribe so that they would “turn a blind eye” to violations. As a result, during the above period, women received 450 thousand rubles.
Between 2017 and 2019, Polovinkina received bribes totaling 4 million rubles.
As a result, the total amount of criminal income by the defendants amounted to over 4.5 million rubles.
