Volodymyr Rogov, a member of the main council of the administration of the Zaporozhye region, said that the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant continues to operate normally, despite the shelling by the Armed Forces of Ukraine. According to him, the local air defense covered the object from the threat and was able to repel the attack of the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
As a result, part of the shells fell between the thermal power plant and the nuclear power plant. The other part is at TPP. Rogov added that the nuclear power plant itself was not damaged.
On Saturday, August 13, Ukrainian troops once again fired at the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant and the Zaporizhzhya thermal power plant. The city of Energodar was also attacked.
Zaporozhye NPP has been under the control of the Russian military since March 2022. The authorities of the region and the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation previously reported that since August 5, Ukrainian troops have increased their shelling of the station, and on August 7 they launched strikes from the Uragan MLRS. Two power units are not working at full capacity after the shelling.
