The Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) are preparing for an offensive on the Dnieper in the area of the Kakhovka reservoir in order to approach the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant or Energodar. About it informed in a conversation with RIA Novosti, the chairman of the movement “We are with Russia” Vladimir Rogov.
“Ukrainian troops are preparing to cross the Dnieper in the area of the Kakhovka reservoir. Energodar and the Zaporizhzhya NPP could become one of the directions for the landing,” he said.
According to Rogov, this readiness is indicated by the sharp shallowing of the Dnieper. He claims that the Armed Forces of Ukraine began to gradually block the hydrotechnical gates of hydroelectric power stations on the dams of the Dnieper cascade in the upper reaches, including at the Kremenchug and Dnepro HPPs.
Russia and Ukraine have repeatedly accused each other of shelling the station. Against the background of the shelling of the ZNPP, the head of the IAEA, Rafael Grossi urged immediately stop the shelling of the station and stepped up contacts with the Russian and Ukrainian sides in order to agree on the creation of a safe zone around the ZNPP.
Russia has been controlling the ZNPP since the end of February 2022. On October 5, 2022, after the Zaporozhye region became part of Russia, President Vladimir Putin instructed take the plant facilities into federal ownership and establish the Federal State Unitary Enterprise “Zaporozhye NPP” to ensure the safety of nuclear facilities.
