ArsTechnica: Titan submersible sunken in the Atlantic could be controlled by a $30 Logitech F710 game controller
ArcTechnica reports that OceanGate’s Titan tourist bathyscaphe, which sank during an excursion to the Titanic burial site, was controlled by a Logitech F710 game controller for PC.
Journalists figured this out from last year’s CBS Sunday Morning report, during which reporter David Pogue visited a bathyscaphe. The ship’s commander and founder of OceanGate, Stockton Rush, gave Pogue a tour and talked about the design of the Titan during the report.
Speaking about the submersible control system, he picked up a Logitech F710 wireless controller with homemade elongated sticks, pointing out that the bathyscaphe is controlled using this game controller. It is noted that the average cost of this model is 30 dollars, or 2.5 thousand rubles.
The publication added that after the appearance in the media of information about this part of the OceanGate submersible, the Logitech F710 stocks in online stores began to rapidly dry up.
