In the US, annual inflation slowed for the first time since April to 8.5%

Annual inflation in the United States amounted to 8.5%, being below analysts’ expectations by 0.2 percentage points, follows from the data on website US Bureau of Labor Statistics. In June, inflation in annual terms was 9.1% – thus, it slowed down for the first time since April.
The index for all items, except for food and energy, rose in July by 0.3%. The gasoline index fell 7.7% in July, offsetting gains in the food and housing indices and causing the energy index to fall 4.6%. The food index continued to grow, having increased by 1.1% over the month.
