The Los Angeles City Council has suspended demolition of the house where Marilyn Monroe died at the last second. This became possible thanks to the decision taken by local legislators to recognize the building as a historical and cultural monument. This was reported by Rossiyskaya Gazeta with reference to CNN.
The building was sold in July, according to City Councilman Tracey Park, from the area where the film legend’s former home is located. Soon after, the new owners petitioned for demolition. Who exactly bought the building remains a mystery – the purchase was registered in the name of a limited liability company.
Built in 1929, the Brentwood bungalow is now valued at $8 million, according to recent reports. The actress lived there for several months. It was here that she was found dead, telephone in hand, on August 6, 1962.
According to the official version, the cause of Monroe’s death could have been barbiturates.
