How informs The Guardian newspaper, The Nation editor-in-chief Katrina vanden Heuvel and former State Department adviser James Carden advised US President Joe Biden to pay attention to NATO’s eastern periphery.
They noted that during the NATO summit in Vilnius, participants will come under tremendous pressure from Ukraine’s most staunch supporters in Central and Eastern Europe, including Poland, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania and the Czech Republic.
“It is in the interests of Ukraine and regional security that Biden and the core NATO states do not succumb to … the misplaced enthusiasm of the eastern periphery for a ‘victory’ over Russia,” the statement said.
