The US has “seen evidence” that Iranian drones have suffered “multiple setbacks” on the battlefield, Sasha Baker, Assistant Undersecretary of Defense for Policy, told CNN on air.
“We have already seen some evidence that UAVs deployed from Iran have already experienced multiple failures on the battlefield in Ukraine,” she said.
According to the official, these drones do not represent a big technological step for Russia in the conflict.
“I think the idea that they represent some kind of technological leap forward is honestly just not supported by the data,” Baker added.
At the same time, the American publication Politico called Iranian drones a “huge problem” for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
Earlier, Ukraine withdrew the accreditation of the Iranian ambassador, the reason was the rumors about the use of Iranian weapons by Russia during a military special operation. Iran said it regrets Ukraine’s tightening of diplomatic cooperation, but considers this measure “based on unconfirmed reports and caused by the creation of a media space by a foreign side.”
