The authorities of the Ternopil region forbade the believers of the UOC to hold a religious procession, said the head of the military administration Volodymyr Trush. His words are quoted by the Politika strany Telegram channel.

According to him, he was informed “about possible provocations” during the procession of believers to the Holy Dormition Pochaev Lavra from August 19 to 28.

“Based on the recommendations of the police, the National Guard, the Security Service, the head of the TCC and the Joint Venture, the Defense Council decided to ban believers of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church from going to the Pochaev Lavra,” Trush said.

He also called on the police to “take the necessary response measures to prevent mass gatherings organized by supporters of the UOC.”

The canonical Ukrainian Orthodox Church has recently been regularly persecuted by the Ukrainian authorities.
