The operation was performed by the family doctor
The doctors of the Vidnovskaya city hospital had to fight for the life of a three-month-old child who had an operation to circumcise the foreskin at home. The kid was admitted to the hospital in an extremely serious condition – after the introduction of lidocaine, he developed anaphylactic shock.
As it became known to “MK”, manipulations at home were carried out by the family’s personal doctor – he used a radio wave scalpel, which is considered the most correct tool for such manipulations. The need for circumcision of the foreskin was associated not only with the peculiarities of the religion of the family, but also with the fact that the boy had phimosis (a very narrow opening in the foreskin), so he needed such an operation for medical reasons. However, everything went wrong when the doctor gave the baby an injection of lidocaine for local anesthesia. The boy began to develop a dangerous allergic reaction – convulsions began, and he himself fell into an almost unconscious state.
“We often have to deal with complications after circumcisions at home,” the hospital told MK. – These include bleeding, and as a result – hematomas of the penis, purulent inflammation (phlegmon), head injuries up to amputation, burns after a laser or electrocoagulation, and so on. And the most common complication is a recurrence of phimosis, if the doctor has not completed one of the most important stages – circumcision of the inner leaf of the foreskin.
But in this particular case, the family physician did not even have time to start manipulations, as the boy became ill from local anesthesia. In a few days, resuscitators managed to stabilize the condition of a small patient – now he has been sent to the Lyubertsy Regional Hospital for further treatment.
