The return of the NVP course to schools was embellished with new details. In the Sverdlovsk region, the head of the local branch of DOSAAF said that military training centers for schoolchildren and retraining centers for teachers would be created. In addition, to create a program for the updated course of the NVP, they are going to use “samples of textbooks on initial military training that are in Ukraine.”

The information is somewhat confusing. And here DOSAAF, if we are talking about schools, and why Ukrainian textbooks? ..

Recall what DOSAAF is. The abbreviation is well known to those who remember the USSR. It stands for Voluntary Society for Assistance to the Army, Air Force and Navy. In stagnant times, former athletes and the military were arranged there by pull.

Today, society is so obscure that most do not even know about its existence. It seems that the new head of the organization for the Sverdlovsk region, Yuri Yanochkin, appointed in November 2022, decided to change the situation.

At a press conference, Yanochkin spoke about a new line of activity for DOSAAF today. Namely, about a military training course for senior schoolchildren (grades 9-11) jointly with the Ministry of Education of the Sverdlovsk Region: “We are now developing a program for the training and retraining of teachers who will be engaged in initial military training. And I think that by the end of February we will have such a program together with the Ural Pedagogical University.”

But, perhaps, the most non-standard plan in the preparation of a new school course was the proposal to take Ukrainian textbooks on NVP as a model, and in the edition no later than 2018. And such materials are already at the disposal of the Sverdlovsk DOSAAF.

“Recently, people arrived from the front line and brought us samples of textbooks on basic military training that are in Ukraine,” said the head of the organization. And he assured the audience that during the preparation of the course they would be carefully studied, looked at and “made better” …

Such an inquisitive attitude towards educational literature from Ukrainian schools is at least strange. After all, for example, State Duma deputy Yana Lantratova, who personally went to the Donbass for textbooks, said that they are seditious and “saturated with hatred.” And the Vice-Speaker of the State Duma, Pyotr Tolstoy, even stated that “the Hitler Youth was made of the Ukrainian youth.” He said this after the examination of trophy benefits from Ukraine, which was carried out by the Ministry of Education. Do we really need “examples” so much to create a Russian program?..

The head of the Ministry of Education recently reported that the testing of the new school course of the NVP will begin this year. And the NVP will be fully implemented in schools only in a year. It is not yet clear which subject program will be replenished, life safety or physical education. And how the new course will be legally formalized, because for such a change in the school curriculum, recommendations from relevant departments alone are not enough. We need an amendment to the law “On Education”, and before that, the changes must be heard in the State Duma and be approved by the president.

According to a sociological survey conducted earlier this year, 33% of Russian citizens support the return to NWP schools. However, most of them believe that the subject should be optional. 19% of respondents were in favor of including military training in the framework of the school curriculum. And 48% voted against the CWP. At the same time, sociologists note that mostly men over the age of 45 are in favor.
