Changes have been made to the Basic Provisions on the admission of vehicles to operation and the duties of officials to ensure road safety. They clarify the list of malfunctions in which the use of the vehicle is prohibited.
As emphasized in the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the Russian Federation, this will ensure the updating and harmonization of the list of faults, which specifies the requirements for braking systems, steering, external lighting devices and the engine.
In addition, methods for detecting vehicle malfunctions (visual inspection or with the mandatory use of technical diagnostic tools) are specified.
Meanwhile, in Russia they are preparing to return to the market the legend of the Soviet automobile industry – the Volga car. It is assumed that GAS can resume production of such machines by the summer of 2024. A Russian company is expected to be the controlling technology partner for this project, but it is not yet clear which one.
