The Ministry of Finance proposed to exempt SVO participants from paying interest on loans
The Russian government has adopted a bill providing for an exemption from paying interest on consumer loans for citizens who participated in the SVO.
The author of the legislative initiative was the Ministry of Finance. It has already been approved by the government at a meeting of the commission on legislative activities. The initiative will be submitted to the State Duma for consideration.
The bill provides for the abolition of obligations to pay interest on consumer loans after the end of the credit holiday for SVO participants, as well as the redirection of interest towards the principal debt if they have already been paid by the time the law is adopted.
This measure will require the allocation of about 5.7 billion rubles from the budget to reimburse banks for 50% of lost interest income.
