A fire was extinguished at the Novocherkassk State District Power Plant in the Rostov Region. About it reported in the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations in the region.

According to the department, the fire was extinguished at 16:26. Earlier it was reported that the roof of the sixth power unit caught fire. The fire area was 200 square meters. 56 people and 18 pieces of equipment were involved in the extinguishing.

As a result of the incident, 150 station employees were evacuated. As Governor Vasily Golubev said earlier, three employees of the station were hospitalized.

Sergey Filippov, head of the Main Directorate of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Russia for the Rostov Region, said that the cause of the fire was a violation of the technological process. “During the planned work, an air-gas mixture was released, followed by combustion. External influence is excluded,” he said. Golubev also denied reports that an explosion could have caused the fire.

Due to the fire, the power plant stopped work, the authorities warned that restrictions on the supply of electricity would be introduced.
